Designed by David Gentleman, a set of three original stamps, valued at 21/2d, 4d and 1s 6d and issued on 31 May 1963 to commemorate the ninth International Lifeboat Conference in Edinburgh. 

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution was established in 1824, so celebrates its 200th anniversary this year!  There are currently 238 Lifeboat stations across the UK and Ireland and the charity has, to date, saved over 143.900 lives at sea.

Frame size: 140mm x 65mm. Stamps are displayed on a blue/silver background to represent a rough foaming sea.
